Occupational ladder

A metaphor for the hierarchical organization of jobs or Labour in a society. Patricia Hill Collins argues Black individuals are often excluded from white-collar jobs. In caste-based societies, one’s birth frequently determines access to specific occupations, thereby reinforcing social inequality.
