Stonewall Riots

A series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ+ community against a police raid that took place in the early hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village. The riots are widely considered a catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States and around the world. The event marked a turning point, leading to the formation of advocacy groups and the annual celebration of Pride.
